Scarlet Maiden is an adult adventure game found on Steam’s gaming platform. It’s become more popular over recent months, so we felt a review was needed.
Scarlet Maiden is an adult game. You’ll need be 18+ to play.
What in the heck is going on here?
We’ll explain.
All About Scarlet Maiden
Otterside Games created Scarlet Maiden. We aren’t sure if they felt it would be a big brilliant success. Given it’s a 2D game and doesn’t have a lot of marketing, we might think it was a passion project turned success. The term “success” being subjective, of course.
Scarlet Maiden involves a character named, well, Scarlet. She’s the last maiden of a secret flame. Her mission is to take over Prime Evil.
As a visual game, Scarlet Maiden is ripe with dark, seedy dungeons. You’ll explore an extensive network of dungeons. The extent of these dungeon networks is somewhat surprising and possibly overwhelming.
You’ll need to defeat several bosses in order to “win” the game. That said, there’s no clear ending. In other words, nothing conclusive happens. However, along the play way, you’ll find visually stunning graphics and a decent storyline. It’s all compelling, which makes it a bit immersive (at least, enough to play).
Scarlet Maiden is still mostly under development, which may explain the undefined conclusion of play.
All characters sport tight, skimp attire. Yes, that’s the adult part of Scarlet Maiden. The female characters are all busty, whether they are good or evil characters.
There are three stages to contend with. In each stage, a boss rules. You’ll need to defeat each boss in order to progress at the game. There’s nothing fancy or extravagant in the storyline, at least not if you’re a seasoned gamer.
Scarlet Maiden does a wonderful job with both graphics and storyline, bucking the sometimes trendy “cheap” experiences games try to get away with when they feature adult content. The art is wildly exciting. It’s a pixel style art that’s fun and vibrant and pops from the screen.
Scarlet Maiden is entertaining, but it isn’t super challenging. After defeating an enemy, you quickly see that most enemy attacks and wars with bosses offer similar, sketched out movements. In other words, you begin to expect things. Again, this is an unfinished game and we’d expect a bit more challenge in the future.
What don’t we like?
The ending is odd. Well, there’s no true ending.
The game isn’t finished, which explains the ending portion.
Not all the monsters get erotic.
Its a bit too easy to collect the max level of objects.
The controls are a bit tricky. However, if you’re savvy, you can remap them and make it a bit more intuitive.
Otherwise, this is a pretty good adult game and worth a play.
